Arlene Maifeld, 87, of Hampton, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Franklin Country View in Hampton. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield. Visitation will be on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 4-6 p.m. at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. A private burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery.

Ivan Leroy Butt passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at the age of 90 in Johnston, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alden with burial in Union Cemetery on the family farm southeast of Dows. Visitation will be an hour before the service. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. 

Herman Freese, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 14, 2026. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Faith Baptist Church with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at the Faith Baptist Church. Charles “Chuck” Johnson, 85 of Sheffield, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A graveside service and burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 20, 2026 at the Clear Lake Cemetery. He will be laid to rest with full military honors. Kerri Deane Luhring, age 63, of Parkersburg, was born the daughter of Dean Carl and Ellen Lue (Catherall) Rodemeyer on August 1, 1962, in Hampton, Iowa. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1981. Kerri attended La James Cosmology in Mason City and Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. 

Charles Theodore “Ted” Nolte, age 79, passed away in his sleep at Harmony Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Rapids on Friday night March 6, 2026. He was born at Hampton, May 1, 1946, son of David J. and Mary Zoe (Ellsworth) Nolte. He was one of the University of Iowa Hospital’s “Polio kids” – diagnosed at age 3 in 1949, leaving him with a paralyzed leg and a lifetime wearing a “brace”. 

Jacqueline “Jackie” Jean Campbell passed away on June 20, 2026, at the Alaska Pioneer Home in Anchorage, at the age of 91. She was a woman who kept life running on schedule, remembered every date worth remembering, and loved her family in ways that showed up in every quilt she stitched, every pie she baked, and a cookie jar that was never empty.

Galen Albert Hackbarth, 83, of Hampton, passed away peacefully at his home on June 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Galen was born on December 5, 1942, in Hampton, to parents Myron A. and Joyce P. (Wharton) Hackbarth. He grew up helping his father and mother run their family’s century farm with sisters, Myrna and Janet. 

Karen K. Hotchkiss, 86, of Rowan, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.
Graveside service were held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 15, 2026 at Graceland Cemetery in Rowan with Herb Schreur officiating. Family and friends are invited to the United Church of Rowan for lunch and fellowship following the graveside service.

Merna Jean Schroeder, 99, was called to her Heavenly home on February 17, 2026 after passing away peacefully surrounded by her family. A private family burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton.

Randy Oudekerk, 70, of Mason City, died Thursday, May 21, 2026, at MercyOne – North Iowa. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, at Faith Baptist Church, Hampton. Lena Mae Winters passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Franklin Country View Nursing Home in Hampton. She was surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in rural Geneva with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before the service. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. 

On Sunday, May 10, Dale Vern Butson, 69, of Hampton died peacefully at his home surrounded by family and loved ones.
Dale was born on July 28, 1956, in Hampton, to Karl Vernon and Lena (Smidt) Butson. He graduated from Hampton High School and later attended Ellsworth Community College. On November 17, 2001, Dale was united in marriage to Janeen Hetland Powers.

Judy Nolte, 86, of Sheffield, passed away, Friday, February 6, 2026, at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton while under Hospice Care. Memorial services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Zion St. John Lutheran Church, Sheffield. Burial will be at the West Fork Cemetery, rural Sheffield. Visitation will be 9:30 until the service at the church on May 23.
