Gordon Schrock, 79, of Dumont, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church in Hampton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Lois D. Brinkman, 83, of Lone Tree, formerly of Sheffield, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at Pioneer Park in Lone Tree. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield. Memorial services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Lois will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield.

Chad Burmester, 53, of Newton and formerly of Hampton, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Mercy One Newton Medical Center from a short illness consisting of pneumonia, influenza A and sepsis. Chad was born January 12, 1972, in Ft. Collins, Colorado to David and Vicky (Johnson) Burmester. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Janelle Lynn Wilson, a beacon of laughter and courage, passed away on March 16, 2025, after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Born on October 3, 1955, in Hampton, IA, Janelle’s vibrant spirit and loving nature left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered throughout her 69 years of life. She departed from this world in Des Moines, IA, surrounded by the love of her family and the warmth of memories shared.

Patty Whipple, 80, of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. A public visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Woodley Funeral Home in Hampton. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Hampton cared for Patty and her family.

Richard Eugene Ubben, 94, of Dumont, died Monday, Feb. 17, at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton, of natural causes.
Richard was born June 6, 1930, at his parents’ home near Aplington, son of Henry H. Jr. and Jennie (Fuls) Ubben. He married Virginia Rieman on Jan. 20, 1955, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church parsonage, Hampton. She died March 16, 2012.

Mandy Mutschler, 39, of Geneva, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in rural Geneva. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later disbursement.

Jane Huff, 82, formerly of Hampton, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Hubbard Care Center. Celebration of Her Life will be held 11:00 am, Friday, February 21 at the Hampton Church of Christ with Pastor Joe Peter presiding. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the church.

Orville H. Alverson, 97, of Mason City, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania with Pastor Nadine Illunga officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time on Friday. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Ronald (Ron) Dale Zickefoose was born in Hampton, Iowa, on August 3, 1944, to Donna Belle (née Edgington) and James Willard Zickefoose. Ron passed away on February 11, 2025.
A visitation will be held for Ron on Saturday March 8, 2025, from 10AM.- 11A.M, followed by a memorial service at 11:00A.M., at the First United Methodist Church, 510 Thompson Street in Sheffield, Iowa. The family will host a luncheon following the service.

Donald Harken, 87, of Hampton, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Franklin Country View in Hampton. A private burial will be held at the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025 at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. 

James (“Jim”) Dennis Jess, age 82, died unexpectedly in Honolulu, HI on February 8, 2025.

Elaine Wilcox, 77, of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton with visitation one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center at a later date.

Sue E. McGuire, 71, of Hampton, passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church in Hampton. Memorial services will be held at noon on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church in Hampton. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Hampton is caring for Sue and her family.

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, February 7, 2025 at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in rural Geneva. He will be laid to rest at a later date at the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
