HAMPTON—--- The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs were able to hold on for a 60-50 win over the Pocahontas Area Indians at home on Jan. 16. The Bulldogs are now 12-1 on the year following the win. The Bulldogs led 18-10 after the first quarter and in the second quarter a three-pointer by Brooklyn Valley made it 24-10 with just over 5:00 left in the second quarter. The Bulldogs kept the lead at 14 points at 29-15 with 2:30 left in the first half.

HAMPTON—-- It went down to the final minutes of the fourth quarter, but the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs boys basketball team fell just short of the win in their 63-54 loss to the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys at home on Jan. 16.
 
The Bulldogs led 6-2 early in the first quarter, but Clarion-Goldfield-Dows went on a 9-4 run to take a 11-10 lead with just over 2:00 left. The quarter ended with the Cowboys up 18-13.
 

HAMPTON—- In a battle between two Bulldogs teams it was the  No. 10 Algona Bulldogs that came away with the win as the  No. 12 Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs fell 44-34 at home on Jan. 10. It was the first loss of the year for Hampton-Dumont-CAL, which fell to 10-1 on the year.
 

HAMPTON—-- The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls basketball team held the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets in check during the Bulldogs’ 45-30 win on Jan. 7. The Bulldogs improved to 10-0 on the year following the win.
 
Head coach Miranda Stafford said that a positive for the Bulldogs after coming back from break is how the Bulldogs had to grind out the win and play hard.
 

HAMPTON—- In a wild finish it was the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs boys basketball team that came away with the win after a buzzer beater by Aaden Keehn after getting an offensive rebound to beat the buzzer in the Bulldogs 67-65 win over the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets on Jan 7. The Bulldogs won their second game in a row and improved to 3-5 on the year.
 

The season is off to a good start for the West Fork Warhawks girls basketball team as the Warhawks entered the winter break with a record of 5-2 on the year. Head coach Rodney Huber said that  he thought that things were pretty good during the first half of the season.
 

With the first half of the season over and the team coming back from the winter break, The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs boys wrestling team is ready to get back to competition.  Head coach Patrick Hansen said that while some things did not go their way that the first half of the season was good for the Bulldogs.
 

The first half of the season might not have gone the way the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs boys basketball team would have like record wise as the Bulldogs entered the winter break with a record of 1-5. But head coach Brian Niesen said that said that he thought the team had some good moments in the first half but that they have to focus on being more consistent.
 

With the first half of the season out of the way, the West Fork Warhawks girls wrestling team is getting ready for the second half. The team starts up competition again on the road on Jan. 7. at Nevada at 6 p.m.
 

With multiple meets under their belt,the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls wrestling team is set to start the second half of the season. The team’s next meet is on Jan. 7. at Aplington-Parkersburg at 6 p.m.
 

Things have been going pretty well so far this season for the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls basketball team. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 13 and are 8-0 on the year. The Bulldogs defeated the No. 12. The St. Ansgar Saints 43-33 in their last game before the winter break on Dec. 21.
 
Head coach Miranda Stafford said that heading into the break that she  is happy when it comes to where they are at record wise

HAMPTON—- The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls basketball game improved to 3-0 on the year after a 53-36 win over the Clear Lake Lions on Dec. 6.
 

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs boys wrestling team had two meets this past week. The team fell to Lake Mills 42-28 in the team’s first meet of the year on Dec. 3. In that match, Jacob Mahler won in the 132-lbs weight class, Charlie Showalter won in the 138-lbs weight class, and Colin Bird won in the 165-lbs weight class. Madox Strother won in the 106-lbs weight class and William Vosburg won in the 120-lbs weight class.
 

Last year was a strong season for the West Fork Warhawks boys basketball team, which saw the team make it all the way to the Class 1A Substate 3 championship game before ending the season in the Substate championship game with a record of 20-5. The Warhawks are getting ready for the upcoming season.
