The Hampton-Dumont-CAL (HDCAL) boys and girls track and field teams both competed in the Jim Basye Coed Relays at HDCAL on Friday, May 2. The boys finished third out of 10 teams with a total of 82 points while the girls finished ninth out of 14 teams with a total of 41 points.

The West Fork boys track and field team finished in fifth place out of nine teams in the track meet at North Butler High School on Friday, April 25. Due to the weather throughout the day it was too wet to run field events, so only running events we ran during the meet. The Warhawks finished in the top five in two different team events.

The West Fork boys golf team finished first place out of three teams in their golf tournament at the Ridge Stone Golf Course on Tuesday, April 22. The Warhawks finished with a total of 162 strokes, while Saint Ansgar finished with 169 and Newman Catholic finished with 187. The Warhawks would have three of the five lowest scorers.

Live Healthy Iowa is a non-profit organization based out of Ames, whose main goal is to create a health initiative to combat Iowa’s increasing obesity problem. The organization founded the Live Healthy Iowa Kids Track Championships in 2015 to give youth the opportunity to participate in track and field events and hopefully develop a healthy lifestyle.

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys track and field team took home third place out of 10 teams in the Hampton-Dumont invite with a score of 101 on Monday, April 21. The Bulldogs finished just five points behind Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, while Clear Lake ran away from the rest of the field with a score of 155.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL (HDCAL) track and field star Charlee Morton competed in her third Drake Relays, finishing second in the discus throw and winning her third straight championship in shot put. On Thursday, April 24 Morton competed in the discus throw, and despite finishing second she broke the HDCAL school record for the longest discus throw, with her throw of 149 feet, 4 inches.

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys soccer team defeated Garner-Hayfield-Ventura by a score of 3-1 on Thursday, April 17. The game started fast for the Bulldogs as after a beautiful pass from Gruelke Briggs set up a goal for Christain Zavala just over two minutes into the first half. However, the Cardinals would quickly respond after a hand ball by the Bulldogs set up a penalty kick.

The Hampton-Dumont boys and girls golf teams both finished fourth out of four teams in the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadet invite on Wednesday, April 17. The Bulldogs girls finished with 481 total strokes. The Bulldogs lowest scorer was Kenzie Moorehead who shot 107. Moorehead shot 58 on the front nine before shooting 49 on the back nine, which was the third lowest overall score of any nine holes in the tournament.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL (HDCAL) track and field star, senior Charlee Morton, is in the midst of one of the most memorable individual careers for any Bulldog athlete in recent memory. Morton has won back to back region championships at the Drake Relays and state championships in both shot put and discus. Morton said that she is glad to be able to represent Hampton with her very successful high school career up to this point. 
 

Since Hapton-Dumont-CAL girls soccer head coach Ben Schlachter took over the program in 2023, he introduced the kid captain program where a kid is brought to be the “team captain” for the Bulldogs.
 

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys soccer team tied 1-1 vs Belmond-Klemme on Monday, April 7 in an exciting game that had a thrilling finish. The game was a competitive battle from beginning to end and had many key moments. Early in the first half it looked like the Broncos were about to strike first, after being rewarded a penalty kick after a handball from a Bulldog defender.

ACKLEY — The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Birdbusters trapshooting team opened up their season with a solid showing on Saturday, taking home 14 total medals, including four team medals and ten individual medals. The birdbusters went up against South Hardin High School, Dike-New Hartford Community School District and the host of the meet, Ackley Geneva Wellsburg Steamboat Community School District (AGWSR). 
 

HAMPTON— The  Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs girls soccer team dropped their home opener of the season 10-0 to the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets on Thursday. The girls were missing five players and were facing one of their toughest opponents of the season. Head coach Ben Schlater said that the first two games of the season would be a good measuring stick for the team as they opened the season facing two of their toughest opponents.

HAMPTON —The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs boys soccer team won their first home game in impressive fashion with a 6-0 win over Iowa Falls-Alden.

The scoring started early and often, when sophomore Jesus Flores struck the back of the net for his first career goal just five minutes into the game. Flores spoke on how important it was to get the lead early.

The first meet for the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs’ girls tennis team was on April 1 at Clear Lake. Heading into the season co-head coach  Chad Johnson said that the number one goal for the team is to get better every day.
 
“In practice or when we have meets as well,” Johnson said.
