Dennis Linn Kotenbrink, 67, passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 26, 2024, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.  A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. 

Lois Scott, of Alden, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Westview of Indianola Care Center. Funeral services are pending with the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

Betty Lavon Johnson, 94, went to her heavenly home on Oct. 23, 2024. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday Oct. 28 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Latimer with visitation one hour prior to services. Betty will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield. Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home of Hampton is caring for Betty and her family.

Douglas Musson, 77, of Iowa Falls, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at his home in Iowa Falls. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls with a time of fellowship to follow at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. 

Tim Borcherding, 68, of Coulter, went home to be with the Lord on October 16, 2024. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. Tim was laid to rest in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Latimer.

Robert Gamble, affectionately known as Butch, passed away at the age of 76 on October 13, 2024. 
Butch, the most loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather is survived by his wife, Barb; daughters Jeannie and Lucy; granddaughters Heather, Courtney, Nicole, and Ashley; grandson Abe; great grandchildren Hazel and Miles; sisters Barb, Helen, Ruth, and Pat; and his faithful pets, Buster, Tiger, and Callie.

After a full and too brief life, Sara Geiken died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 9, 2024, after living with lung cancer for 5 years.
Sara was born on January 18, 1980. She graduated from Hampton-Dumont High School and studied psychology (and many other things) at Iowa State University before starting a 20-year career at Wells Fargo. 

Dean Miller, 87, of Hampton, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. A Celebration of Life memorial visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, at Woodley Funeral Home in Hampton. A private family burial took place in the Hampton Cemetery. Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton cared for Dean and his family.

Linda Balvanz, 83, of Iowa Falls, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Monday at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

Loren Dwaine Langford, 81, of Dubuque, Iowa and formerly of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away on August 25, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Linn’s Funeral Chapel in Iowa Falls. Burial will be at Chariton Cemetery 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2024. Linn’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dallas Roger Slagle, 80, of Sheffield, Iowa passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at the University of Iowa Clinics and Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton with burial in the Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. before the service.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer, with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Burial took place at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Latimer. Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton cared for Sylvia and her family.

Carol Luecht, 86, of Sheffield, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Sheffield Care Center. A Celebration of her life will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12 at Zion St. John Lutheran Church, Sheffield, with Rev. G Kim Wills presiding. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the church.
