Heaven has gained a new angel. Peggy Stock, 78, of Hampton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. No services will be held per Peggy’s wishes and a private family burial will take place. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton.

Pam Harvey, 66, of Sheffield, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at her home in Sheffield. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield with burial in the Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. 

Harlan Smeins, 96, of Ackley, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at his home in Ackley. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at St. John U.C.C. in Ackley with burial in East Friesland Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before the service. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Jack passed away peacefully with his daughter and her husband, his sister, and his niece at his side at Elkhart General Hospital on the evening of August 3, 2024.

Jannis Faye (Fekkers) Liekweg was born on the farm near Alexander, Iowa on January 6, 1940. She was born to Henry and Esther (Suntken) Fekkers and was the first area baby born in 1940. Her parents received gifts from the local businesses, including a day crib that was used by 4 generations of babies and sported nearly ¼” of white paint (each mother had to spruce it up) when it was finally retired. 

Jaime Thompson-Keninger, 47, of Iowa Falls, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at her home in Iowa Falls. A private family burial will take place at Northlawn Memory Gardens in Iowa Falls. A Celebration of Life is pending. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. 

Robert Teske, 87, of Alden, passed away on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024 at Franklin Country View in Hampton. Funeral services are pending with the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. 

Mavis Lucille Claypool, age 98 of Hampton, joined her Savior in heaven on August 11, 2024. Up until her final days, she lovingly dedicated her time to sending greeting cards to family and friends from her home at Franklin Country View Nursing Facility. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 17 at 10:00 am. Visitation is in the church prior to the service (9:00-10:00).

Duane Kelch, 81, of Hampton, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton under the care of MercyOne North Iowa Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial took place at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hampton. Visitation was held one hour prior to Mass, at 9:30am, at the church. Duane was laid to rest in the Hampton Cemetery.

Thomas N. Johnson, 80, of Iowa Falls passed away Tuesday, July 16th at his home. He was born May 31, 1944, in Hampton, Iowa, the son of Robert G. and Helen L. (Mahoney) Johnson. He graduated from Franklin Consolidated Schools in 1962 and later began work for Farmers Hybrid in Hampton delivering swine breeding stock to customers. He also served as a volunteer firefighter in Latimer.

Paul Hauser, 91, of Hampton, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Nashua. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. 

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Phyllis Jean (Towne) Spurgeon announces her passing on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at MercyOne North Iowa in Mason City. She was 63 years old.

Linda VanDeest, 82, of Wellsburg, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls.
