The First Bank Hampton Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Josh D. Lange has been promoted to Loan Officer for First Bank Hampton. He joined the bank in May 2022 as a Customer Service Representative. Josh currently specializes in consumer lending and will be working with Ag and Commercial customers in the future. He will be instrumental in meeting the credit needs of customers and serving our local communities.

Not many performing bands can trace their history back to 1975, but Little Band River who played at the Surf on Friday is one of them.

A very emotional memorial, Remembering Our Fallen, is a stark reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by over 90 Fallen from Iowa killed in The War on Terror while wearing our country’s uniform in a war zone. The photo memorial, which includes military and personal photos of each of Iowa’s Fallen, is traveling throughout the state, and will be coming to Hampton, Iowa.

The Franklin County Community Foundation (FCCF) held its 2023 grant awards celebration at First Bank Hampton in Hampton on April 14, announcing the distribution of $146,867.16 to 21 projects of organizations serving Franklin County through its 2023 grant cycle.
 

The Dumont Fire Department honored retiring Chief Gary Bierman with a service award and ceremony on April 4th during their regular meeting in the Dumont Municipal building at 625 1st St. Chief Bierman had served on the Dumont FD for 30 years as chief, but had formally relinquished the role March 7th. The incoming chief, Zach Lewis served under Bierman and is employed locally at Swart Tire.
 

A new restaurant has come to Hampton, with Mi Tierra, "My land" opening in the space vacated by the closing of La Amiguita,  "The Little Friend," at 115 1st NW in Hampton in August last year. Mi Tierra opened for business on March 27th and is open M--We-Th 11am-9pm, Fri-Sa-Su 11am-8pm, and is closed on Tuesdays.

Sheffield - Brock Grain Systems is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on April 5, 2023, to commemorate the nearly 20,000 sq. ft. expansion of their manufacturing facility in Sheffield, Iowa.
 

The Kiwanis Club of Hampton is bringing a public invited easter egg hunt back to Hampton April 8th, and throwing in a free family movie, ‘Prince of Egypt’ to boot in conjunction with the Windsor Theatre. The afternoon festivities will kick off at Bandshell Park promptly at 1pm when the clock tower strikes the hour, setting off a mad dash for eggs and hidden treasures therein.

Fashionistas and plant lovers have a new place to shop in Hampton with the opening of Little Leaf & Britts Boutique last week.

Blue Jacketed members of the Tall Corn FFA Chapter turned out en masse today for photos at Hampton-Dumont High School as part of National Agriculture Week celebrations. Today the chapter observed Drive your Tractor to School Day, with some waking well before the crack of dawn to drive their rigs to school from the very edges of the district, which is more than 30 miles across.

Online Concerns Spill into Real Life
A back and forth exchange about collection policies and book titles at the Hampton Library such as ‘Gender Queer” and “All Boys Aren’t Blue,” has produced heated rhetoric and garnered dozens and dozens of comments by the public. The Hampton Public library is a public entity and is run under the auspices of the City of Hampton, but is managed by a nine member board of volunteer trustees. 
 

An estate sale will be held April 5th featuring the personal property and prized collection of farm equipment owned by longtime Hampton resident, Trinity Lutheran Church member and treasurer Richard “Dick” Miller, 68, of Hampton, who passed away December 9, 2022. The sale will be held Apr 5th at 10am at the family farm at 1763 Quail Ave with a preview on April 4th. The homestead and farm ground will not be sold. 
 

Addition of 2015 HD-CAL Grad Gilberto Luna Fills Roster
 
Hampton's 7th, and newest, full time police officer Gilberto Luna, was formally introduced at the Thursday March 9th regular meeting of the Hampton City Council.
Luna, Hampton resident and 2015 Hampton-Dumont graduate, has been on the force as an officer three weeks now, but has been working for the police department as a translator for several years.

There’s always a lot more going on behind the scenes in any city than most people realize, and two people working hard in that regard in Hampton are Chief Mark Morrison and Public Works director Doug Tarr. 
 
Week in and week out they are pushing forward initiatives, working through problems, minding budgetary pressures and alleviating negatives for the citizens of Hampton.
 

Last June Centro Inc., a rotational molding company based in North Liberty, announced it was expanding into the Hampton area with its purchase of a 30,000 sq ft building at 1235 Imperial Road, the last remaining Hampton Industrial park spec building. At the time the company said it would add two rotational molding lines to the plant, its 11th facility, and create thirty jobs over three shifts that paid from $19.50 to $22.70 per hour.
