Bulldog Baseball Continues to Struggle With One Big Inning

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL baseball team is still searching for that first win of the season. It has have been close a couple of times in the early season, but has struggled to get the outs they need to prevent a big inning. The Bulldogs have led in almost evey game this season, yet have yet to find themselves in the win column. The Bulldogs’ pitching has been the strong point early in the year, but the bats and defense have not yet come around. West Fork softball out to fast start

SHEFFIELD — West Fork scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning Thursday on its way to a 2-1 victory over Iowa-Falls Alden, highlighting a strong first week of the season.

The Warhawks went 4-0 on the week, including 2-0 in the Top of Iowa Conference West Division, also scoring victories over Clear Lake, 2-1, Rockford, 12-0 and Northwood-Kensett, 12-0.

West Fork baseball drops first three

SHEFFIELD — The West Fork High School baseball team dropped the first three games of its season last week, including its Top of Iowa Conference opener.

The Warhawks fell 8-0 to Clear Lake Tuesday. The Lions scored the only runs they would need in the first inning and added a run in the third and five in the fifth. Edison Maske had the lone Warhawk hit, a single, while Zander Hansen drew a pair of walks. Casyn Guerrero started on the mound and allowed four runs in five innings while striking out six.

Bulldog Golfers Just Short of Qualifying for State as a Team, Showalter Qualifies as Individual

ORANGE CITY - The Hampton-Dumont-Cal boys’ golf team finished runner-up in the North Central Conference and runner-up at the sectional golf tournament, qualifying for the May 15 district meet at Orange City.

Bulldogs Enter First Week of Games Shorthanded

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs return to the baseball diamond after a 23-9 season that ended in a first round exit from the class 3A district tournament the year before. The Bulldogs must replace some key players to their success the season before. A younger core of players has emerged and will look to fill the shoes of the graduated players. The overlap of spring sports and summer sports in Iowa can make the first week of baseball difficult for coaches and players.

Morton Doubles Up Again, Boys Sprinters Bring Home Hardware for Bulldogs

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs sent three events on the girls’ side and seven events on the boys’ side to Drake Stadium Des Moines for the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union State Track and Field championships Thursday through Saturday.

Weaver's personal-best leads West Fork at State Track Meet

DES MOINES – Leah Weaver ran a personal-best 1 minute, 8.61 seconds on her way to ninth place in the 400-meter hurdles, leading the West Fork track and field teams at the State Meet last week at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

The Warhawks competed in six events at the meet, five on the girls' side and one on the boys. Weaver's finish was the best of the meet for the team and one of two that finished inside the top 10.

Bulldogs Golfers Look to Finish Year Strong

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL golfers have been battling mother nature all spring, but when they have been able to play they have had success on the course. The girls have shown consistent growth throughout the season and this past week competed in the North Central Conference golf meet at the Mason City Country Club. The Bulldogs headed into the conference meet with junior Madision Lindaman having the best average on the team at 58 for a 9 hole average. Soccer Teams Approach Postseason Play

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL soccer teams have had success and failures during the year. As postseason match-ups have been released, it is time for the teams to be at their best if they want a shot at qualifying for the state tournament. The girls soccer team begins their march for the postseason Wednesday against the Clear Lake Lions at Clear Lake. The match will begin at 7:00 pm and tickets can be purchased online as the Bulldogs have wrapped up their conference and regular season schedule.

Lots of Bulldogs to Represent at State Track

The Bulldog boys and girls track teams would run at the North Central Conference track meet this past Thursday. The boys would travel to Webster City, while the girls would head to Fort Dodge. Boys team would be looking to continue the strong performance and finish the season strong before heading into the district track meet.
