Bulldogs Advance Four To State!

Wrestling fans may have a little bit of a different feeling this season with the Iowa High School Athletic Association changing the postseason format by removing the sectional tournament and advancing all wrestlers straight to districts.  The IHSAA also added eight wrestlers to the state tournament and are returning to a four day format for the competition.  Coach Hansen made the joke that for the first time in H-D-CAL history, all 14 Bulldog

Bulldog Boys Look to Finish Season Strong

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldog boys basketball team has been very competitive throughout their tough NCC schedule.  A conference that features three ranked class 3A teams makes it tough to win conference games.  The Bulldogs have maintained a competitive nature even though it is not showing up in the win column.

Bulldog Girls Season Ends in First Round Playoff Loss

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldog girls basketball team wrapped up their regular season against the Saint Edmond Gaels and then got busy preparing for the postseason matchup with the top seeded Osage Green Devils.  The girls team has been through a tough season dealing with injuries, weather complications, and the normal rigors of a high school basketball season, but they have continued to persevere through the trials and tribulations.

Stonecypher, Bordwell make history for Warhawk girls’ wrestling team

Last January the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) announced the sanctioning of girls’ wrestling at the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials’ Association (IWCOA) girls’ state tournament. The storied history of Iowa high school wrestling added an exciting new chapter to it last week with the first IGHSAU-sanctioned State Wrestling Tournament.

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys’ wrestling team wrapped up its 2022-2023 wrestling regular season by taking the team title at the second annual Steve Deike duals. 

Bulldog basketball teams host Senior Night

When the calendar page turns from January to February that means that the high school basketball season is coming to a close. Players will soon play their final games in their home gyms and be recognized for the years they have put into their programs. The Hampton-Dumont-CAL basketball programs hosted their senior night this past week and several players stepped onto their home courts for the final time.

Friday night the West Fork boys’ basketball team played its final home conference game of the season by welcoming Nashua Plainfield Huskies to Sheffield. The junior varsity squad did an outstanding job controlling the pace of play and executing on both ends of the floor.

Mother Nature Cancels Dual Tournament for Bulldog Wrestlers

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Wrestlers lost another event due to a winter storm, but were able to get out and wrestle at the beginning of the week. The Bulldogs finished up their NCC dual slate with a matchup against Algona and West Hancock in Britt on Tuesday night. The Algona Bulldogs would prove to be a tough matchup for the H-D-CAL grapplers. Although H-D-CAL had beaten them in the NCC tournament, Algona would hand the Bulldogs another conferenc

Warhawk Girl Wrestlers Compete in NCC, Regionals

The West Fork Warhawk girl wrestlers were invited down to Hampton to compete in the NCC Girls Invitational.  The team took full advantage of the opportunity to compete in the NCC against the four teams that have girls wrestling.  The Warhawks would enter nine wrestlers into the field and walk away with four NCC girls champions.  At 110 pounds, H-D-CAL student Teaghan Bird would claim an NCC title.  She would go 4-0 with four pins in her lone o

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls’ and boys’ basketball teams have experienced many different types of ups and downs this season.  Through all of this adversity the teams have continued to develop throughout the season.  

Warhawks continue winning ways

Tuesday night the West Fork High School boys’ basketball team welcomed Central Springs to Sheffield.  
The JV team continued their winning ways with a 26-point victory where they were able to get all players into the game, and everyone played a hand in this decisive victory.

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls basketball team might not being seeing the results in the win column, but they are improving on the court.  This past week was the toughest week of competition they have faced all year.  The team has not shied away from competition all year.  Although it can be tough to not see the results in the win column the girls have made tremendous growth this season.
