So exciting. Another election so we can make a difference.
Well, I checked out the Libertarian (Large “L”) candi-date just in case. She proposes universal basic income. The Libertarians are still going after the ignorant vote, apparently.

Iowans continue to struggle with significant job losses and high unemployment as coronavirus cases soar in our state.
In particular, the pandemic threatens to erase economic gains made by women in re-cent decades. At the end of 2019, women held more than half the payroll jobs. Women now make up less than half of the workforce.

As Election Day approaches we all have a responsibility to elect officials who best represent us. Corey Eberling, your County Supervisor for the past 16 years is such a person.
How do I know this: firsthand knowledge. I served with Corey as a County Supervisor on many boards and commissions. Thoughtful, fair and well prepared are the traits Corey exhibits as your supervisor.

North Iowa is a great place to live and raise a family. It is important that we continue to have a voice in the Iowa House we can trust to represent our values.
Shannon Latham is the right person to represent House District 54 in the Iowa House. She is equipped with the knowledge and the life skills to lead Iowa through these trying times.

I've been working on my Hon-da motorcycle lately. It's a 200cc dirt bike from 1986. I even have a service manual for it and the project has constant-ly humbled me.

Corey Eberling is the clear choice for voters in District 3 for Franklin County.

Tuesday night when I tucked Dawn in for the night my first words were, “I'm sorry.” I was sorry she had to suffer through the least funny come-dy routine ever produced.
I hadn't watched a campaign debate since Al Gore “debat-ed” Dick Cheney as vice pres-idential candidates. I just prefer to read. The important issues are passed over in favor of childish name calling that is an insult to the intelligence of the audience.

I hauled my brother and sister in law to a spot on the Shell Rock River so they could fish on their way to Greene. It was fun and interesting to see new places on my drive. Harvest was barely underway with some corn and some soybean fields harvested. Some farmers were apparently tired of wait-ing for more suitable fields so they went out and disked the harvested bean fields.

Not much in this world comes with certainty nowadays.
For the last six months, we’ve been forced to play a “wait and see” game with vir-tually all events, activities and even careers.
Unsurprisingly, this may lead to the grinding down of spirits and hope but one thing it has done is boost apprecia-tion and support for our com-munity.

I saw this story about the fires out West. The governor of Oregon says that “situa-tions have been dire enough to make even firefighters retreat.”
This gives the impression that firemen are superheroes. They are people. The first thing we learned in fire class in the Hansell was, “Who is the most important person on the scene of a fire?”
The answer is, “You!” A fireman is no good to anyone dead.

We've got a kid (39 years old) living in Los Angeles. He's been laid off since the pandemic, I mean the government shutdown began.

Nintendo surprised fans of the famous video game plumber last week with several announcements celebrating his 35th anniversary.

Having just celebrated Labor Day 2020, this is a good time to recognize the hard work of so many Iowans.
During a difficult year, Iowans have been asked to do more and they have responded by:
• Pouring into communi-ties to help those hit by storms and flooding
• Working overtime—often in risky situations—at front-line jobs during the pandem-ic

The Windsor Theatre is now temporarily closed primarily because there are very few first run movies available. Patrons are also hesitant to return to a group social setting because of the coronavirus.

The king is dead.
Last Friday ended on a sad note with the announcement that actor Chadwick Boseman had died at the age of 43 after a four-year battle with cancer.
Boseman gained fame for playing historical black figures like Jackie Robinson and James Brown, but since 2016 he was best known for portraying T'Challa, the Black Panther, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
