The award-winning West Fork High School dance team will once again compete at the state level, in Des Moines on Thursday, Dec. 4.
Four dancers — Emerli Johnson, Adra Johnson, Kylin Johnson and Nahla Wilson — will perform solos in the Class II finals, while the entire group will take the stage during the pom, hip hop, jazz and "the mix" categories.

 
The Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce held their long-awaited Friday Uncorked event on Friday, Nov. 28, drawing around 170 people to the heart of Hampton.
 

Hampton’s United Women in Faith chapter, a Methodist organization, held their yearly bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 22 to help raise funds for non-profits in the area.
 
They typically raise a few thousand dollars in donations, which they disperse to nearly 25 different charities and non-profits around the community.
 

After more than a year of searching for a donor, the Montes family can finally breathe a sigh of relief, as Teodoro Montes of Hampton received his new kidney earlier this month, on Nov. 3.
Teodoro, who was in kidney failure, had been receiving dialysis on a daily basis when he finally received the news that he would be getting a new kidney. 

The Hansell Fire Department has announced that they'll be holding their first soup supper of the season this Wednesday, Nov. 26.
Proceeds from the free-will donation meal will go towards building their new station, which they’ve already begun working on.
The supper will be held at Hansell Community Center from 5 to 7 p.m.

On Friday, a special showing was held at the Windsor Theatre for Cabe Warwick, whose movie review was recently recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Public Works Director Doug Tarr gave an update on the follow properties during his report at the end of the Nov. 24 city council meeting:
—315 1st St SW - house demolition conducted by property owner and nearly complete, at no cost to the city
—321 Federal St South - anticipated court date in January on 657A ("abatement of abandoned or unsafe buildings by rehabilitation," according to Iowa Code)

Holiday laughter and heartwarming lessons will take center stage as The Tradition Collision has begun rehearsals in anticipation for production in mid-December. Presented by the Franklin County Arts Council, performances are set for December 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. and December 14 at 1 p.m. A cast of twenty area children ages 8 to 18 have been cast in the roles representing four families in the sleepy Midwest town of Muckburg.

Hampton City Council will have one fresh face starting next year, and her name is Jeanne Fay. She won the at-large council seat Tuesday evening.
Fay, who was born and raised in Iowa, spent much of her adult life in Colorado. But three years ago, she returned, as she missed “Iowa Nice” and the perks that come with living in a small town. She now works at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton

A request to have chickens within city limits will be reconsidered during the Nov. 13 Hampton city council meeting.
 

Authorities are now confirming gunshot wounds after law enforcement found three individuals dead and one injured with the shooter allegedly turning the gun on himself.
A 911 call came in at 3:58 a.m. Sunday morning from a location in the 110 block of Willow Lane.

The Reeve REA Power Generating Plant received the Alan Hutchings Outstanding Visionary Award on Thursday, November 6 at the Silos and Smokestacks annual training event held at the Waterloo Convention Center.  
Accepting the award presented by Silos and Smokestacks Board of Trustees Chair Kevin Blanshan were Franklin County Historical Society representatives Rick Whalen, Darwin Meyer, and Jim Davies.

After fifty years with Latham Hi-Tech Seeds, Plant Manager Greg Jaacks is ready for retirement.
On Thursday night, Oct. 30, he celebrated his accomplishments and hard work with his coworkers and community at their headquarters in Alexander. The company hosted a farewell party for him that evening.
When asked what he'll miss the most, he said "the work."

The Hampton Tree Board wrapped up their planting season this week, with their final tree going in at Harriman Park on Thursday morning.
The new tree replaced one of the infected ash trees that had been removed by the city earlier this year.
