The H-D-CAL trap shooting team, known as the “Bird Busters,” took to the field at Stockdale Gun Club in Ackley on Saturday, May 11, where students gave it their all.
Belmond-Klemme, Hampton-Dumont-CAL and West Fork had boys and girls teams competing Friday, May 1, at the Jim Basye Co-Ed Relays, while South Hardin was represented in the girls meet.
The West Fork girls track and field team turned in a strong all-around performance Tuesday night, winning Class B of the Cowgirl Relays with 164 points.
The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs swept Charles City in a soccer doubleheader Thursday night during the “Kick the Stigma” event, with the girls earning a 3-1 victory and the boys outscoring the Comets 7-1.
James Koop recently retired from his duties as the head football coach at AGWSR. He was the program’s head coach for 10 seasons, and spent 27 seasons total among Northwestern College, AGWSR, Alden and Northeast Hamilton.
West Fork freshman Talia Pommrehn wasted little time making school history.
Pommrehn broke the school record in the 100-meter dash at the season-opening meet March 30 in St. Ansgar, finishing in 13.26 seconds. The previous mark of 13.33 was set by Hailey Clausen in 2018.
