Rising rock-country star Joe Hermes, of Illinois, wowed the crowd at the Band Shell Park for the season's third “Tuesday on the Town” on June 19. 
 
Hermes and his guitarist, Jerry Prater, took to the stage and performed for an hour on stage in the drizzling rain, which didn’t seem to stop the crowd from leaving. As the two played, the crowd listened closely, clapping between songs and snapping photos from their phones. 

City of Hampton officials want to remind citizens that there is a fireworks ban in place within city limits. 
“Although state law allows firework sales statewide, individual communities may have local regulations that ban the use of fireworks within their cities,” said Hampton City Manager Ron Dunt. 

Rebecca Moreland graced the stage at last week’s “Tuesday on the Town” performance at Band Shell Park. 
The concert took place on June 11, at 6 p.m., and it was the end of a long day for Moreland, who had been chauffeured around town all day by Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Director Bill Hittle and KLMJ Radio’s Beth Strand. 

John and Joy Lyman were honored with Hampton City Council's June 2024 Image of Pride Award at Hampton City Council’s June 13 meeting. 
 
The two were selected by city councilor Jerre Grefe, who was tasked with finding the winners for that month. When it came to their property on Oak Hill Drive, she said she was impressed by how meticulously maintained it was, adding that they had done all of the upkeep themselves. 

Growthland celebrated the opening of its Hampton branch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony through the Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, June 18.

The ninth annual Hampton Bluegrass & Country Music Festival was a hit. 
 
The festival, which was held at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, ran from June 5 to June 8, drawing hundreds of spectators from near and far. There was a little bit of everything — live music, workshops, jam sessions, potlocks, concession stand food and more. 
 

The Omnium employees went through a new safety training program last week — and two of their youngest employees were the masterminds behind it all.
Maddy Button, 22, and Shannon Rajkowski, 23, coordinated the training sessions for the Land O’ Lakes plant, which manufactures crop protection and plant nutrition products in Hampton.

The Iowa Specialty Clinic in Hampton welcomed Amber Campbell, a family nurse practitioner, as their newest provider, a month ago. 
 
Campbell, who’s originally from Belmond, obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Chamberlain University, before working at Franklin General Hospital.
 

Side-by-sides made their way through the county on the morning of June 8 for the memorial ride in honor of the late Jason Harper, who passed away four years ago. 
 
Harper was a longtime chief for Hansell's Fire Department, also serving as the city's mayor, among other leadership roles.
 

The folks at La Luz Centro Cultural celebrated Kyle Whalen’s departure as the director of the nonprofit on Thursday evening, May 30, with a going away party. 
 
Whalen recently accepted teaching positions with AGWSR High School and South Hardin High School. He’ll teach business classes at both schools. 
 

The City of Hampton’s municipal band is back for another season of performing for the community — it’s 103rd season, to be exact. 
 
It kicked off the season Wednesday evening, May 29, with a concert at Band Shell Park, which ran from 8 to 9 p.m. 
 

​​The Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and ABCM Rehabilitation Center of Hampton employees held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the re-opening of the “Healthy Living Home Care” portion of the business on Monday morning, June 2.
