West Fork Boys Basketball Season Preview

The West Fork boys basketball team will begin their season next week and will be looking to improve on an 11-12 season last year. The Warhawks are lead by head coach Abraham Maske, and they will be losing six seniors from last season's team, including all five of their regular starters. Despite losing a lot of production, coach Maske is excited to see this year's team grow.

"One of the strengths that I personally feel the West Fork boys basketball program has always been the depth from year to year and the skill level of all players that come in each year" Maske said. "QWe did lose a great group of seniors that provided a lot of production for us last ear. However, this particular group has worked extremly hard in the off-season to put themselves unto a position to where they will be willing to be called upon at any time."

Despite being under .500, the Warhawks had a strong finish to the season last year, winning six of their last eight regular season games, before falling to Bishop Garrigan in the region semi-finals. Some key returning players for the Warhawks include junior Zander Hansen, who appeared in 22 of the Warhawks 23 games and averaged 7.4 points per game, and junior Keston Lambertson, who started three games for the Warhawks last season and averaged 2.5 points per game. Coach Maske is excited to see where this young team can go.

"While we may not have the overall experience, we do have the talent, the drive and the ability to be very good," he sad. "I personally feel this is going to be an outstanding season and I'm looking forward to getting it started.

The Warhawks first game of the regular season is on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura. The Warhawks first home game will be on Friday, Dec 12. at 7:30 p.m.vs Newman Catholic.
