The West Fork boys golf team finished first place out of three teams in their golf tournament at the Ridge Stone Golf Course on Tuesday, April 22. The Warhawks finished with a total of 162 strokes, while Saint Ansgar finished with 169 and Newman Catholic finished with 187. The Warhawks would have three of the five lowest scorers. Nolan Shreckengost had the lowest score for the Warhawks shooting 38, which was the second overall lowest score of the meet, just one stroke more than winner of the tournament, Thomas McGuire from Newman Catholic. It was the lowest Shreckengost has shot all season and he discussed how good it felt to have such a low score.

“It feels great,” said Shreckengost. “I’ve struggled here or there for a little bit throughout the year, just haven't been comfortable with my swing. So I mean it feels great to shoot somewhat low and shoot a good round especially at the home course.”

Jordan Demaray finished third overall in the meet and second on the Warhawks, shooting 39, just one stroke more than Shreckengost. The third lowest score for the Warhawks was Wyatt Bonnema, who finished tied for fifth overall in the meet, shooting 41. This was the fourth time this season that the Warhakws have finished first in a meet and was a good bounce back from finishing fourth at the Dike-New Hartford invitational the day before. Warhawks head coach Chris Noss spoke of his team's hard work that has led to the strong start to the season.

“They have been putting in work in chipping, putting, and the driving range,” said Noss. “They are just finally now starting to hit their stride. We had an 18-hole tournament yesterday and had a couple of good scores and today they really showed what they can do.”

The Warhawks would compete in three more tournaments throughout the week on Thursday, April 24 at the Buffalo Run Golf Course, Saturday, April 26 at the Algona Country Club and Monday, April 28 (see weekly recap for results). The Warhawks next meet is on Friday, May 2 at 4:15 p.m. at the Highland Park Golf Course.
