Warhawk Volleyball Beats Broncos, Loses to Cyclones in Region Tournament

West Fork volleyball defeated the Belmond-Klemme Broncos 3-2 in the Class 2A Region 1 first round on Monday, Oct. 20, before losing 3-0 to the Denver Cyclones in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

In the victory over the Broncos, the Warhawks lost the first set 25-21, won the second set 25-9, lost the third set 25-18, won the fourth set 25-21 and the fifth and deciding set 15-8. Senior Abby Schoning led the Warhawks with 22 assists in the match, senior Brylee Dickman led the team with 43 attacks and junior Brooke Rother led the team with 12 kills. Defensively, Schoning and senior Jennifer Ramirez led the Warhawks with three blocks each, while freshman Dazie Huff led the team with 30 digs.      

In their loss to the Cyclones, the Warhawks lost the first set 25-7 the second set 25-7 and the third set 25-5. Schoning and sophomore Zada Huff led the Warhawks with three assists each in the match, while Dickman led the team with 14 attacks. Dickman an Rother led the Warhawks with two kills each. Defensively, Dazie Huff led the Warhawks with seven digs.

The Warhawks end the season with a record of 10-10 and 2-6 in conference play.
