Soccer Teams Approach Postseason Play

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL soccer teams have had success and failures during the year.  As postseason match-ups have been released, it is time for the teams to be at their best if they want a shot at qualifying for the state tournament.  The girls soccer team begins their march for the postseason Wednesday against the Clear Lake Lions at Clear Lake.  The match will begin at 7:00 pm and tickets can be purchased online as the Bulldogs have wrapped up their conference and regular season schedule.   The Bulldog girls soccer team finished the season with a 1-11 record.  In conference play they finished with a 1-9.  Stats are not up to date on bound with goal leaders, save leaders, and other related statistics.  

The H-D-CAL boys soccer team paved their path to state and will receive a first round bye, then host a district game in the second round.  The Bulldogs will finish 3rd in the NCC this season.  This past week the boys went 1-1, dropping a game to Webster City by a 6-1 score last Monday, but then bouncing back to beat the Clear Lake Lions 5-2 on Friday.  Heading into the final week of the regular season senior captain Alexis Hernandez leads the team in goals with 15 scored.  Senior Luis Mota leads the team in assists with 12.  Sophomore Jose Aragon logged 110 saves on the season, while only giving up 23 goals.  The Bulldogs wrap up their season against the NCC leading Humboldt Wildcats Monday at 5:00pm.  They will begin the postseason next monday against either Charles City or Clear Lake at home.
