To the editor:
Last week a high school baseball player in Charles City was the target of a vicious racist attack during a game. Spectators from the opposing team yelled at him, starting by calling him “Colin” (in reference to the Black NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick who is known for kneeling during the National Anthem as a sign of protest against injustice toward Black people). However, the spectators—adults and youth—didn’t stop there. They continued to yell racist attacks: “You need to go back to the fields to do your job!” and “You should have been George Floyd!”
