Five Warhawks Make Top of Iowa East All-Conference Teams

The 2025 all-conference baseball teams for the Top of Iowa East conference have been announced. Thirty-three total players made up the first team, second team and honorable mentions team, with five West Fork Warhawks being selected. Senior Nolan Shreckengost was selected to the first team. Sophomore Zander Hansen, senior Trevor Despenas and senior Ashyr Wiseman were selected to the second team, while sophomore Braylon Shreckengost was selected as an honorable mention. 

 

Nolan Shreckengost was a force at the plate and on the mound for the Warhawks. On the mound, Nolan posted a 1-1 record with a 3.25 earned run average (ERA) in 23.2 innings pitched. He struck out 22 batters and walked 16 batters. At the plate, he hit for a .380 batting average and a .477 on-base percentage, both the highest on the team. He had 17 singles, nine doubles and a triple while driving in 14 runs. He finished with a .889 fielding percentage and committed eight errors. 

 

Hansen also played both ways for the Warhawks. As a pitcher, he had a 3-3 record with a 3.54 ERA with a team-high 47 strikeouts in 31.2 innings pitched. At the plate, Hansen .338 with a .443 on-base percentage, with 13 singles, seven doubles, two triples and drove in 22 runs. Hansen mainly roamed the outfield and had a .895 fielding percentage and committed four errors.

 

Wiseman is another guy who excelled on both sides of the ball for the Warhawks. On the mound, Wiseman had a 4-2 record with a 4.05 era with 45 strikeouts and 35 walks in 36.1 innings pitched. His four wins was the most on the team. As a batter, Wiseman hit .179 with a .353 on-base percentage with seven singles, four doubles, a triple and six RBIs. Wiseman had an impressive .977 fielding percentage and only made one error all season. 

 

Despenas also played both ways for the Warhawks. On the mound, he had a 3-2 record and posted a team-low 1.31 ERA with 32 strikeouts and 13 walks in 37.1 innings pitched. At the plate, he had a .257 batting average and a .396 on-base percentage, with 12 singles, four doubles, two triples, a home run and 15 RBIs. Despanses was the main catcher when he didn’t pitch and he finished with a .971 fielding percentage and only committed four errors. 

 

Nolan’s younger brother Bryalon Shreckengost had a solid ear at the plate to earn a spot on the honorable mentions team. Braylon hit .333 with a .443 on-base percentage and collected 15 singles, three doubles, one triple and 15 RBIs.
