Country, rock and raucous fun grace 2020 fair lineup


This year’s Franklin County Fair Grandstand lineup is complete for 2020.
The lineup includes a mix of fair favorites, country artists and a classic rock legend.
Kicking off the fair on Wednesday, July 15 is the return of the Heuer Rodeo, which includes bronco busting, bull riding and even mutton busting.
On Thursday, July 16, ‘70s rock legend Grand Funk Railroad makes a stop in Hampton. Celebrating its 51st year as a band, Grand Funk Railroad will bring its “Some Kind of Wonderful 2020” tour to the grandstand stage.
Grand Funk Railroad made waves in the rock industry with “We’re an American Band,” as well as “I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home,” Locomotion,” and the title track to their tour, “Some Kind of Wonderful.”
The Leroy Van Dyke Country Gold Tour will take the stage on Friday, July 17.
The evening will include performances by Leroy Van Dyke, T Graham Brown, David Frizzell and T G Sheppard. The lineup promises a night of classic country artists who have combined for Grammy’s and chart topping hits such as Brown’s “Hell and High Water” and Sheppard’s “Last Cheaters Waltz.”
Saturday, July 18 will include performances by country music artists Jo Dee Messina and Mark Wills.
Messina brings with her a catalogue including nine Number One hits and sixteen Top 40 songs that have earned her ACM, CMA and Grammy awards. Her faith-fueled hits include “Heads Carolina, Tails California.”
Wills gained notoriety with the Number One hit “19 Something.” The song was named the top country hit of the year in 2003 and was named Billboard’s number two song of the decade on the Hot Country Songs Chart.
The grandstand events conclude on Sunday, July 19 with the ever-popular Gunderson Figure-8 Races.
