Bulldogs Girls Basketball Falls to Wolverines

Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls basketball fell to the Dike-New HArtford Wolverines by a score of 45-19 on Tuesday, Dec. 9. The Bulldogs struggled to get an offensive rhythm going in the first half, as the Wolveriens took a 24-6 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs would pick up the offensive production in the second half, but it wouldn't be enough as the Wolverines outscored the Bulldogs 21-13 in the second half to walk away with the 45-19 victory. Head coach of the Bulldogs, Miranda Stafford, was proud of how the girls kept fighting until the end.

"It shows their grit and their work ethic," Stafford said. "Their ability to continue to be coachable and compete. The second half, they did a good job of making adjustments that we talked about at half time, so it shows that they are willing to learn and listen."

Junior Madison Heilskov was the Bulldogs leading scorer, as she scored eight points on 4-of-13 shooting from the floor. Sophomore MacKenzy Valley led the Bulldogs with 10 rebounds, five steals and two assists to go along with her five points scored. Junior Addison Aalbers led the Bulldogs with four blocks and she scored five points.

The Bulldogs rebounded on Friday, Dec. 12 with a 36-32 victory over Webster City, to improve their record to 2-3 and 1-1 on the season. The Bulldogs hosted Homboldt on Tuesday, Dec. 16 and their next game is on Friday, Dec. 19 when they host St. Edmond at 6 p.m.
