Bulldogs Cross Country Runs in State Qualifier Meet

GILBERT - The Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys and girls teams ran in the Class 3A state qualifying meet at the Iowa State Cross Country Course in Ames on Wednesday, Oct. 22. It was a great final run of the season, as nine of the 12 runners set a new season's best time, with six of those times being personal records. Head coach of the cross country teams, Traci Moorehead, spoke on how happy she was with how the team ran in the final meet of the season.
"Ending the season with so many runners running their best time is how you want to end the season," Moorehead said. "It shows continued growth throughout the season. Many set a goal for a time, and they pushed themselves to achieve that goal."
The boys team finished in 13th place out of 13 qualified teams with a total score of 376 points, while the girls team finished in 12th place out of 12 qualified teams with a total score of 342 points.
For the boys team, sophomore William Vosburg finished in 62nd place overall and posted a score of 62 with a time of 18 minutes, 45.56 seconds. Vosburg's time set a new personal record. Senior Arnold Guevara finished in 69th place overall and posted a score of 68 with a time of 19 minutes, 5.22 seconds. Guevara's time set a new personal record. Junior Conner Miller finished in 78th place overall and posted a score of 78 points with a time of 19 minutes, 44.99 seconds. Miller's time set a new season's best. Sophomore Max Kofoot finished in 83rd place overall and posted a score of 83 points with a time of 20 minutes, 44.28 seconds. Kofoot's time set a new personal record. Sophomore Rune Magner finished in 85th place overall and posted a score of 85 with a time of 20 minutes, 58.73 seconds. Magner's time set a new personal record.
For the girls team, sophomore MacKenzy Valley finished in 27th place overall and posted a score of 26 points with a time of 20 minutes, 39.02 seconds. Valley's time set a new personal record. Sophomore Adelee Gronewold finished in 76th place overall and posted a score of 75 with a time of 24 minutes, 52.98 seconds. Gronewold's time set a new personal record. Junior Marlee Maas finished in 79th place overall and posted a score of 78 points with a time of 25 minutes, 45.98 seconds. Sophomore Keely Moorehead finished in 82nd place overall and posted a score of 81 points with a time of 27 minutes, 4.7 seconds. Senior Emma Dietz finished in 83rd place overall and posted a score of 82 with a time of 27 minutes, 33.71 seconds. Dietz's time set a new season's best. Coach Moorehead gave a shout out to the seniors who ran their last race of their career.
"We will really miss our and wish them the best of luck in whatever life brings to them," she said. "I hope they enjoy the remainder of their senior year."
