Bulldogs Boys Wrestling Wins Two of Three Duals in Independence Quad

INDEPENDENCE - The Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys wrestling team won two of their three duals in a quad at Independence High School on Saturday, Jan. 3. The Bulldogs defeated the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks 76-6 and the Saydel Eagles 72-12 while losing 69-11 to the Independence Eagles.

In the win in the dual versus the Golden Hawks, freshman Joe Guevara, freshman Conyr Cook, freshman Hector Gutierrez, freshman Kinnick Perez, senior Arnold Guevara, senior Brody Strother and senior Maddon Evans all won their matches via forfeit. Sophomore Luke Sowalter won his match by fall at 1:35, senior Jacob Mahler won his match by technical fall at 1:35, junior Jory Angstman won his match by technical fall at 2:00, senior Ryder Strother won his match by fall at 0:51, junior Jospeh Cruz won his match by fall at 2:31 and senior Tristen Mulford won his match by fall at 2:43.

In the win in the dual versus the Eagles, Gutierrez, Perez, Showalter, Mahler, Cruz, Ryder Strother and Arnold Guevara all won their matches via forfeit. Brody Strohter won his match via fall at 1:22, Angstman won his match by fall at 1:10, Mulford won his match via fall at 1:31 and Evans won his match via fall at 1:00.

In the loss in the dual versus the Mustangs. Angstman won his match via fall at 1:09 and Evans won his match via technical fall at 4:22. The Bulldogs wrestled in a triangular at St. Edmond on Monday, Jan. 5 and their next meet is the NCC triangular meet at home on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m.
