Ward 1 Hampton City Councilor Bill Hodge announced his resignation from his seat, effective July 1, 2025, during the May 19 city council workshop.

In his resignation letter, he wrote that it has been an honor and privilege to serve in this capacity for more than 15 years.

"I thank you for all your support," he said. "I can only hope that my yes or no vote on some issue important to you was correct. God bless Hampton!"

His term was set to run until 2027.

City Manager Ron Dunt told the Chronicle the council will decide on how to fill the position during their next meeting, which is scheduled for this coming Thursday, May 22. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the city council chambers.
