Amsbaugh takes on position as Franklin County economic development director

Mary Amsbaugh is settling into her new role as Franklin County Development Association's executive director.

Stepping into the role in February, Amsbaugh has been working to promote and increase the economic development of Franklin County.

“I like meeting all the people, finding out their needs, and finding resources for them to help,” said Amsbaugh.

A long time Franklin County resident, Amsbaugh has spent the last ten years working at Sukup Manufacturing as a human resource generalist and a community engagement coordinator. In 2019, Amsbaugh was appointed to the Franklin County Development Association board.

After the board had spent nine months searching for a new executive director, Amsbaugh decided to apply to the position herself.

"I enjoyed the work, I enjoyed the people, I loved working with the board," said Amsbaugh. "I thought this would be a good time to do something for the community."

Amsbaugh is working with the many different communities of Franklin County and getting involved in the area. Her upcoming annual meeting in July will have her recapping the year prior’s county matters concerning the economy.

Another project that the FCDA is working on involves the expansion of county's industrial park. The building, Speculation 4, which covers 30,000 square feet and rests adjacent to 4.25 acres of land, has already attracted the attention of a few businesses looking at for potential relocation to the area. New businesses relocating to Hampton is a way to ensure the growth of the industrial park.

"I'm anxious to get out and meet new business owners," said Amsbaugh.

Amsbaugh is also looking forward to helping companies that are already here with the expansion process and that she would encourages people if they have questions about the FCDA or need assistance [to] please not hesitate to reach out.
