Obituaries

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 10, 2020, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.  Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield. 

Merlyn O. Rieman, 79, of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.  He was born September 2, 1940, in Allison, Iowa, to Oran and Irene (Harms) Rieman.

Everett Kie Petersen, age 77, died Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City from COVID-19.  Everett was born on August 30, 1942 in Harlan, Iowa.  He was the youngest of Allen and Clara (Juhl) Petersen’s four sons and was raised on a farm near Irwin.  Everett graduated from Irwin High School in 1961 and graduated from Dana College in Blair, NE, in 1966 with a degree in sociology.  After graduation, he was drafted into the U.S.

Lois W. Rewerts, age 95, of Waverly, Iowa, died Friday, August 7, 2020, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.

Visitation will be held Thursday, (Aug. 6), from 5-7 p.m. at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.  Private services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wellsburg.

Sharon Aalfs, 71, of Coulter, Iowa, passed away, Saturday, August 1, 2020, at her home in Coulter, Iowa.  She was born July 17, 1949, in rural Hardin County, Iowa to John and Katie (Hoodjer) Harms.  Sharon was baptized on October 16, 1949, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wellsburg, Iowa, and confirmed on March 17, 1963, at the Zion St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sheffield, Iowa.
