Talia and Jon Schmidt Awarded July Image of Pride Award

Talia and Jon Schmidt were recognized with the July 2026 Image of Pride Award during the Hampton City Council meeting on Thursday, July 23, in recognition of their outstanding commitment to maintaining and enhancing their property.

Council member Kristin Roode nominated the Schmidts, noting that they have made significant improvements to their home since purchasing it five years ago. Talia, who has called Hampton home since elementary school, and Jon have invested considerable time and effort in both the interior and exterior of their property.

Following last year's hailstorm, the couple installed new siding and a new roof, greatly enhancing the home's appearance. They have also completed numerous interior renovations, including new flooring and fresh paint.

Roode highlighted the Schmidts' beautifully maintained yard as one of the primary reasons for the nomination. Throughout the spring and summer, the landscaping features colorful flowers and a whimsical gnome garden. Future plans include creating a painted rock garden and a butterfly garden.

The Schmidts are also known for decorating their home to celebrate each season. Their creative displays for fall, Halloween, winter, and Christmas have become neighborhood attractions. One memorable Halloween decoration is an "I Smell Children" sign inspired by the classic film Hocus Pocus.

Their dedication to maintaining an attractive home and yard reflects a genuine pride of ownership that is evident throughout the year, making them deserving recipients of the July Image of Pride Award.
