Gordon Schrock

Gordon Schrock, 79, of Dumont, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church in Hampton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Gordon will be laid to rest at the Harlan Cemetery in rural Dumont. Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton is caring for Gordon and his family.

Gordon Glen Schrock was born August 8, 1945, in rural Dumont, son of Galen and Alice (Delp) Schrock. He was the youngest of four children. He attended Hansell Schools and graduated from Hampton High School, class of 1963. On October 18, 1969, Gordon was united in marriage to Cindy Ailts at the Dumont Reformed Church. To this union, three children were born. Gordon started working for Greene Limestone in 1968 as a quarry foreman and retired in 2022. He was strong in his faith and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Hampton.

Gordon was a hardworking man and was proud of his work. He was very mechanical and enjoyed fixing tractors. Gordon was proud of his grandchildren; attending their school and sporting events and he loved taking them fishing. In his younger years, Gordon broke horses. He included his children in the care of the horses and taught them to ride. Gordon was a family man and would do anything for them!

Gordon is survived by his wife Cindy Schrock of Dumont; children: Amanda (Bryan) Neppl of West Des Moines, Abby (Mark) Lampe of West Des Moines and Jeremy (Ashley) Schrock of Dumont; grandchildren: Cam Mears, Ava Neppl, Ashlynn Neppl, Josh Neppl, Cole Lampe, Samuel Lampe, Amelia Schrock, Madelynn Schrock and Jonas Schrock; siblings: Robert Schrock of Lawrence, Kansas, Sharon Weddle of Minneola, Kansas and Sandra Hinson of Topeka, Kansas; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Rev. John and Margaret Ailts.
