Robert “Butch” Gamble

Robert Gamble, affectionately known as Butch, passed away at the age of 76 on October 13, 2024.

Butch, the most loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather is survived by his wife, Barb; daughters Jeannie and Lucy; granddaughters Heather, Courtney, Nicole, and Ashley; grandson Abe; great grandchildren Hazel and Miles; sisters Barb, Helen, Ruth, and Pat; and his faithful pets, Buster, Tiger, and Callie.

Butch was born January 14, 1948, to Harry and Lucile Gamble. He married the love of his life, Barb, on July 30, 1966. Butch graduated as a first-class lineman in 6 years while working at the Franklin County REC. He went on to be a journeyman lineman for the IBEW Local 55 for 23 years, where he trained hundreds of linemen.  Butch was also an over-the-road trucker for 8 years and owned his own mechanic shop for 10 years before he retired.

When he wasn’t working hard to provide a good life for his family, Butch liked to spend his time playing guitar, listening to country music (the old-time real country music), fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, riding horses, and watching cowboy movies.

Butch led by example and always had a lesson to teach anyone willing to listen.   He encouraged you to learn from your failures and to never give up.  The phrase “I can’t” was not allowed to be used as an excuse. He worked harder than anyone else.  He was so proud of his family and proud to be an American.
