About 15 years ago, Harlyn Janssen of Hampton was watching television when he saw, for the first time, a competitive barbeque event. Since then, Janssen has participated in nearly 100 competitions himself and has brought home the title of “Grand Champion” eight times. Recently, he won the title again in LaCrosse, Wisconsin - winning a thousand dollar prize and his name entered into the Jack Daniels Draw - a drawing of all the “Grand Champions” from across the country.
