The Hampton City Council interviewed two candidates that have applied to be appointed as Mayor during their regular workshop on Monday, April 25.
With Mayor Russell Wood stepping down at the end of the month, the city council has been seeking volunteers to complete Wood's term, which will run through November of 2023.
Two applications were submitted expressing interest in the position. Steve Birdsall, the current council representative for Ward 4, and Steve Proodian, a local property manager.
