Sally Jo Roode, 70, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021, at her home.

Sally was born on June 23, 1951 in Clinton, Iowa, to parents Henry and Margaret (Ingledue) Dihlmann. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1969. Sally had a number of jobs over the years, working at real estate offices and in the school cafeteria.

Sally married Joel Roode on June 9, 1973 in Clinton. To this union four children were born: Michael, Jennifer, Kristin and Brian.

In her younger years Sally liked to play softball and go bowling. Sports were always a part of her life, and later on she enjoyed watching them on TV. Sally was a dedicated Iowa Hawkeye fan, specifically the Hawkeye football and basketball teams. She didn’t even like to answer the phone while an Iowa game was on. Later in life Sally enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

Sally is survived by her sons, Michael Roode of Hampton, and Brian Roode of Hampton, daughter, Kristin (Eric Meighan) Roode of Latimer, grandchildren Amelia and Amara Nus of Latimer, sisters, Margaret (Ron) Dihlmann-Malzer of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and Nancy (Steve) Hardter of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, brother-in-law Mark (Karen) Roode of Low Moor, Iowa, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat and dog, Moose and Zoey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joel, her infant daughter Jennifer, and her mother and father-in-law, Donald and Ferne Roode.

Sally’s children would like to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to everyone who helped her and her family during the last few years.

Memorials may be directed to Sally’s family.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 2021, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton with burial to follow in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.
