After more than two months of being out-of-service, the pipe organ at First United Methodist Church is starting to come back together.
In late June, the church initiated a once-in-a-generation cleaning and repair of the 117 year old pipe organ. Dobson Pipe Organ Builders out of Lake City came in to completely disassemble the organ, removing 1,706 pipes to be restored. Many of the smaller pipes were cleaned on site by volunteers and stored in the church while the larger ones were taken to Lake City for a full restoration treatment.
