Johnny “John” Dwight Perkins, 75
Johnny “John” Dwight Perkins, 75, of Hampton, went home to God following a brave fight with cancer, Friday, June 18, 2021. He was a patriotic conservative who was born on May 15, 1946, in Hampton, to Frank and Florence (Shaver) Perkins.
John graduated from Hampton High School in 1964 and later received a diploma in meat cutting from Western Iowa Tech. In September 1965, he married Mary Wood Perkins in Hampton and became a devoted father to four children. They later divorced. On September 28, 2002, John married his longtime girlfriend Genny Simeroth, in Hampton, and added one more child to the family.
John mainly worked at Farmland Foods in Iowa Falls for 22 years and was an assembly line production worker for a washer factory in Webster City for 23 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Hampton where he formerly served as deacon. He was also a member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited, AFL-CIO in Iowa Falls, UAW in Webster City, English Springer Spaniel Dog Clubs and was a Franklin County Republican Central Committee member.
John enjoyed family gatherings and hog roasts. Some of his hobbies included fur trapping, hunting; especially with English Springer Spaniel dogs, fishing and raising Betta and Fantail guppy fish, as well as gardening and coin collecting.
John is survived by his wife Genny Perkins of Hampton; daughter Jackie (Denny) Krukow of Lexington, South Carolina; son Keith Perkins of Hampton; daughter Jerri (Curt) Mitchell of Council Bluffs; son Daniel (Catherine) Perkins of Falls Church, Virginia; sister Janice; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Keith LeRoy Perkins, daughter Jonnie Johnson, granddaughter Tara Krukow and great-grandson Westley Raisch.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2021, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at First Christian Church in Hampton with burial in the Friends Cemetery in Iowa Falls.
