Roy Ritland, 93

Roy Ritland, 93, of Bradford, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Scenic Manor. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the St. Peter's United Church of Christ in rural Geneva. He will be laid to rest at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday, June 19 at the church. Woodley Funeral Home, LLC of Iowa Falls is caring for Roy and his family.

Roy Clifford Ritland was born March 4, 1928 on a farm near Hubbard, Iowa. He was called home to rest 93 years later, on June 13, 2021. Roy was raised on the farm by Oscar and Alma (Mork) Ritland. He graduated from Radcliffe High School. Roy proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On June 30, 1951 Roy was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann Duit at St Peters UCC in rural Geneva, Iowa. This almost seventy-year union was blessed with four children. Roy loved his family and was always there for them. Some of his greatest sorrows were the deaths of his daughter, Donna, son, Richard, and son-in law, Russ. He was a great husband, father and grandfather.

Roy farmed most of his life, but also helped manage his family’s Triple R Roller Rink, sold seed and feed and helped design the first mechanical tractor pulling sled. In his younger years he enjoyed square dancing and participated in many tractor pulling events. Throughout his life, he loved fishing, playing cards, and making his friends and family happy. It was always a great time for the whole family to join “Grandpa and Grandma” at their cabin in Lake City, Minnesota. He taught us how to fish, clean the fish, feed the ducks, go garage sale hopping and let the kids water ski when the fish weren’t biting.

He will be missed, remembered, and loved always!
