Dorothy Jean Juncker, 94
Dorothy Jean Juncker, 94, of Hampton, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. She was born January 9, 1927, in Eldora, to Elmer and Bessie (Lehman) Gelhaus.
Upon graduation from Radio-Teletype Communications Institute in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 10, l945, Dorothy attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, IA. She graduated from Iowa State Teacher's College, now known as the University of Northern Iowa, and taught 4th/5th-grade in Woodward, IA. She was united in marriage to Howard Juncker on May 31, 1947, in Hubbard. Dorothy started working with Howard in their store in September l958, and they were business partners for 41 years. During the years they worked their business together, Dorothy managed the inventory, helped with sales, and was a meticulous bookkeeper for their business and home management. Dorothy was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, was an MYF leader, and a member of Fellowship Circle.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, sewing, and baking. As a loving homemaker, she always assured that her children and home management were given top priority. She loved attending all school and church events with her children. Dorothy was a Brownie, Cub Scout, and 4-H leader. She joined a Child Guidance Club in 1948, which met monthly for over four decades. She always kept the cookie jar full for her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her son Zane and his wife Judy of Austin, MN; daughter Claudia Thorvilson of Houston, TX; son Curtis and his wife Cynthia of West Chester, OH, grandchildren: Tracy King, Tammy Juncker, Laura (Trevis) Alberts, Matthew (Vanessa) Juncker, Erik (Kathryn) Thorvilson, Michael (Shanna) Thorvilson, Kristin (Austin) Baker, Alexander (Brooke) Juncker, Grant Juncker and great-grandchildren: Abigayle, AnnMarie, Avery, Emily, Maxwell, Zoe, Jace, Lucas, Grace, Claire, Erik Jr., Harlan, Annabel, Meredith, Hayden, and Warren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard; her parents Elmer and Bessie Gelhaus; her brother Richard Gelhaus; her great-grandson, Thomas Alberts; and her son-in-law Harlan Thorvilson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 4, 2021, at the Hampton United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery.
