Norman Edward Holm, 75

Norman Edward Holm, 75, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021, at his home in Hampton, with his family by his side.  He was born on February 5, 1945, in Hampton, to Norman Thygesen and Shirlee Marie (Watson) Holm.

Norm attended schools in Hampton and graduated from Iowa Falls High School, class of 1963.  He was united in marriage to Eileen Marie White on June 26, 1966, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Coulter.  Together, they made their home and raised their boys in Hampton.

Throughout his life, Norm worked for Chamberlain Trailers as a welder, Hansen Tire, Seabee Corp, and for the last few years as a farm manager for Foss’ Farms in Hampton.  He formerly volunteered for the Hampton Fire Department for ten years.

Norm was active in starting the Hampton Car Show and continued to be involved for fourteen years.  He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton.

In Norm’s earlier years, he played the accordion in a band, coached baseball, ran the concession stand during baseball games, was a cub scout leader, and was president of the booster club for basketball.

Norm is especially known for his love of collecting 50’s & 60’s era records and stereos, along with collecting watches and other items. 

Norm loved to laugh, joke and socialize with everyone.  He was a friend to all that knew him and will be missed dearly.  

Norm is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Eileen Holm of Hampton, son Michael (Heather) Holm of Hampton, son Robert (Christine) Holm of Ames, grandson Logan Holm (Juliza Garcia), grandson Kyler Holm, and grandson Karsten Holm.   

He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Shirlee.

A memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 29, 2021, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton, with burial in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Coulter.  Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton.  The Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton assisted Norm’s family.
