Merlyn O. Rieman

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 10, 2020, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.  Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield. 

Merlyn O. Rieman, 79, of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.  He was born September 2, 1940, in Allison, Iowa, to Oran and Irene (Harms) Rieman.

Merlyn attended rural Butler County schools.  He was united in marriage to Judith A. Bass on July 18, 1968, in Chapin.  Merlyn was a lifelong farmer and was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed farming and giving tractor rides, and he also enjoyed his sweets.

Merlyn is survived by his daughter Mary (Kent) Peterson of Webster City; son Jon Rieman of Hampton; grandchildren Adam, Ashley, and Abby Peterson, all of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Judith, and two sisters Virginia Ubben and Frances Riles.
