New Hampton Police Department Officer Skyler Gilbert pursued a career in law enforcement as a way to satisfy his desire to help those in need.
“I like helping people,” he said. “It’s something different every day. It’s not a job a lot of people want to do but I put a lot of pride in it.”
Gilbert, a Clarksville, Iowa native, began his career in law enforcement with the Independence Police Department before moving back to Clarksville to be closer to family, where he worked as an insurance agent for the local Farm Bureau chapter.
