Sylvia Borcherding

Sylvia Borcherding, 90, of Latimer, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer, with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Burial took place at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Latimer. Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton cared for Sylvia and her family.

Sylvia Abbie Borcherding was born September 11, 1934, in Hampton, daughter of Gust and Blanche (Roemer) Nelson. She graduated from Hampton High School. On August 12, 1956, Sylvia was united in marriage to Rudolph Borcherding in Hampton. To this union, three sons were born. Sylvia drove the bus for St. Paul’s Lutheran School for many years and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer.

Sylvia is survived by her sons Alan (Kathy) Borcherding of St. Louis, MO, and Glen (Suzie) Borcherding of Mason City; two grandchildren; and sister Mary Lois Nelson of Ames. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rudolph Borcherding, son Gary Borcherding and brother Harold Nelson.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Latimer.
