Sue E. McGuire

Sue E. McGuire, 71, of Hampton, passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church in Hampton. Memorial services will be held at noon on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church in Hampton. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Hampton is caring for Sue and her family.
Sue Ellen McGuire was born August 30, 1953, in Edgerton, Wisconsin, daughter of Harold and Doris (Flattem) Kersten. One of five children, Sue grew up on a dairy farm in Janesville, Wisconsin. She graduated in 1971 from George S. Parker Senior High School.
Sue was united in marriage to Timothy L. McGuire on February 17, 1973, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Janesville, Wisconsin. To this union, three children were born: Bethany, Benjamin, and Jonathan.
Sue and Tim were dairy farmers in southern Wisconsin for a number of years, selling the farm and going into the ministry in 1983. Sue worked alongside her husband in the various churches he pastored. She also worked a variety of jobs, her favorite being a bakery. For the last twenty years, Sue worked at Sukup Manufacturing in Sheffield, Iowa. In her spare time, she loved to cook, bake, garden, sew, and read.
Sue is survived by her children: Bethany Bell of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Benjamin (Stephanie) McGuire of Hampton, Iowa, and Jonathan (Sonja) McGuire of Mason City, Iowa; Grandchildren: Oliver Krumm and Thaddeus Bell of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Anya McGuire, Landyn McGuire, Mattelyn McGuire, Jace McGuire, Delilah McGuire, Calvyn McGuire, Violet McGuire and Christopher McGuire of Hampton, Iowa, Curtis McGuire of Barnes City, Iowa, and Faye Tuttle (Justin) of Charles City; Great granddaughter Iris Tuttle of Charles City; Sister Donna (Noel) Jones of Why, Arizona; Brothers: David (Linda) Kersten of Pueblo, Colorado, Dennis (Barb) Kersten of Janesville, Wisconsin and Ronald Kersten of Evansville, Wisconsin; along with many nieces and nephews and extended relatives.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents and husband Timothy McGuire in 2018.
