Stanley Frederick Caspary

Stanley Frederick Caspary, 90, of Sheffield, Iowa, passed away due to complications from a fall on January 2nd, 2026. He was a cherished father, grandfather, partner, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed. Woodley Funeral Home, Hampton is caring for Stan and his family. Private family graveside services will be held at Carroll Cemetery, Carroll, Iowa.

Stan was born May 26, 1935, in Los Angeles, California. He attended St. Anthony’s Seminary in Santa Barbara and graduated from San Luis Rey College in California. He studied theology for four years at Old Mission Santa Barbara in preparation for his ordination as a Franciscan Priest on December 23, 1961. He served for seven years in Santa Barbara as a teacher, athletic director, baseball and basketball coach at St. Anthony’s Seminary. He received his Master’s Degree in Special Education in June of 1980 from Cal-State Fullerton and inspired many generations of students (including his children) as a Superintendent and Principal in Northern California. He went on to successfully run a ribbon business, Flash Award Ribbons, for the next thirty years.  

Stan was a winner with a kind and generous heart. He had the strength of character and bravery to follow the courage of his convictions, and that has made all the difference to those who survive him. He won writing and art contests, the lottery, trips, cruises, and five cars. He had a passion for art, comics, and calligraphy. He loved sports and wooden rollercoasters. For those of us who are lucky enough to have known such kindness, it has left an indelible impression on our hearts. 

Stan is survived by his partner, Rachelle Villeneuve, of Sheffield, Iowa, his children, Michelle, Dan, Melissa, and Scott, and his grandchildren, Adin, Ethan, Samantha, and Evan.
