St. Patrick’s Team Wins Bridge of Hope Trivia Night

Bridge of Hope North Central Iowa’s 2026 annual trivia night was a huge success, drawing more than 150 people to the gymnasium of Church of the Living Word on Saturday evening, March 21.
The organization has held this event to raise money for local families experiencing homelessness for the last fifteen years, said Board Chair Linda Wharton. This year, they raised around $10,000 for their cause.
For the trivia competition, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church took first place, followed by First Bank Hampton, who took second, and Sukup Manufacturing, who took third.
Wharton told the Chronicle that they had a great time on Saturday evening, thanking everyone for their support.
“It was a great night with a lot of energy in the air and it was great to have people in the community who came out and people from outside of the community as well who came from a distance to support the cause,” she said. “We all came together to support homeless families in our community. That is really humbling and really, really awesome. It really chokes me up.”
According to Wharton, the organization supports families in a number of ways, including providing them with budgeting and life skills, along with mental health counseling. They also help families with financial assistance for renting a home.
“We pay full rent at first and then taper off their financial assistance to help families ease into paying,” Wharton said. “So they can work towards becoming self sufficient and paying that full rent amount.”
