Sheffield City Council approves swimming pool opening

The Sheffield Swimming Pool will officially open on Friday, June 26 at 1 p.m. DICK FRIDLEY/ HAMPTON CHRONICLE
The Sheffield City Council held a special meeting Monday night and decided that the community swimming pool will be opening for the season on Friday, June 26.
The Council also adopted a resolution regarding the pool’s season rules, regulations and fees for the 2020 season.
The pool will be open from 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. each day. It will be closed from 4-5 p.m. for deep cleaning and sanitizing.
Daily rules and regulations will be as follows:
• No hourly breaks
• No shower accesses
• No pool toys will be loaned out
• No outside toys or objects other than goggles
• No pool parties
• No swimming lessons
• Social distancing must be maintained at all times with the exception of people in the same household.
• The gate separating the baby pool and regular pool will be left open during regular pool hours.
• The pool will observe a zero tolerance policy regarding rules and regulations.
Additional precautions that will be part of the summer season will include:
• Signage will be posted throughout listing the pools rules and regulations.
• Please mark a chair with your belongings. Please do not move chairs and tables.
• One employee will walk the deck and bathrooms consistently to “patrol” social distancing and work to sanitize tables, ladders, etc. This will be an additional employee that is not lifeguarding.
• The concession stand will serve limited pre-packaged items, water and soda.
• Social distancing on the deck and concession stand line will be marked with red dots.
• A daily sign-in sheet will be present at the admission gate, with swimmers needing to sign their name, city of residency and phone number each day
Fees
The following fees for the pool were approved by the Council: (Note that a resident is any person or family with a Sheffield address):
•Season passes — $100 for a resident family; $150 for a non-resident family; $50 for a resident single and $75 for a non-resident single
• Daily passes — $2 for a resident and $5 for a non-resident
• Punch cards (Buy 10 punches, get one free) — $20 for a resident family and $50 for a non-resident family
