Ronald Allen Whipple

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Allen Whipple, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 78 due to natural causes in his hometown of Hampton, Iowa. Ronnie’s warmth, humor, and unwavering strength will be cherished by all who knew him.
Ronnie was born on August 9, 1946, to Lyle and Angie Whipple. As a young man, he embraced life with a fierce passion, and this spirit led him to serve his country with honor in the United States Army. Ronnie dedicated 28 years to his military career, bravely completing three tours overseas, two in Vietnam and one in Korea. His commitment to service culminated in his role as a top-ranking recruiter, where he inspired countless young men and women to follow in his footsteps. Ronnie was the epitome of a true American hero, and his dedication to his nation was matched only by his devotion to his family.
Known for his infectious laughter and kind spirit, Ronnie was a loving family man who valued the time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren above all else. He shared a wonderful partnership with his beloved wife, Sandra (Brammer) Whipple, who stood steadfastly by his side through life’s joyous moments and its challenges. Together, they forged a strong family foundation, fostering an environment filled with love, support, and a sense of humor that brightened even the darkest days.
Ronnie’s legacy will live on through his children, Mathew (Sharon) Whipple, Robert Whipple, Jon (Tiffany) Whipple, and Mindy Fahrmann, who carry forward his values and traditions. As proud as he was of his children, his heart swelled with joy and pride for his 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness in their laughter and accomplishments. His family remembers him not only for the love he gave but for the values he instilled: resilience, dedication, and a deep sense of community.
Ronnie will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Lyle and Angie Whipple, his in-laws, Art and Adell Brammer, and his cherished grandson, Joshua Hovenga.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, July 7th, from 5 to 7 PM at Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. A funeral service celebrating Ronnie’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 8th, at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In honor of Ronnie’s dedication to family and country, we invite all who were touched by his life to share stories and memories as we come together to celebrate a remarkable man.
