Rona Lubben

Rona Lubben, 63, of Hampton, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory in Hampton with public visitation starting at 1:00 PM. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Rona and her family.
Rona was born on June 18, 1962 in Centerville, Iowa to Roger and Anna Lou DeVore. She was raised in a farm family of five siblings, largely on a farm outside of Seymour, Iowa. During her early years, Rona enjoyed many creative and artistic outlets including drawing, painting, and calligraphy. Her drawing ventures included single-panel funny comics that were printed for many weeks in the Seymour Herald. Less than a year after graduating from Seymour High School in 1980, Rona met Timothy Lubben, and after a very brief dating & engagement, the two were joined in marriage on March 22, 1981 at the Seymour Assembly of God Church. The following year, Rona gave birth to their first son, Jason, while living briefly in Harlan,Iowa. Their second son, Shaun, came three years later amidst a 6-year season that included over 10 moves from town-to-town including Beaver Bay, Minnesota; Guttenburg, Iowa and Tim’s hometown of Manchester, Iowa. Their daughter, Megan, was born after a couple years in their forever home in Hampton.
On top of spending much time helping to raise her children, Rona also enjoyed a variety of occupations, including positions at a group home called the Meadows, helping with Tim’s sign business, delivering RVs from Winnebago all over the country, waitressing at Seven-Stars Family Restaurant and caretaking at Apple Valley Assisted Living. Rona enjoyed working with and serving people, leaving a lasting impression wherever she went, even if only with an impromptu joke or two.
After accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord at an early age, faith remained the cornerstone of Rona’s life, spurring her to love people in creative ways, including regularly dressing up as a clown on Halloween to make people smile, hosting countless delicious meals with an open invitation, organizing and participating in a line-dancing group comprised of long-time friends called the Tweeters that performed for a variety of care centers, and more recently volunteering annually to pack shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child. Whether it was family, friends, neighbors or even random strangers, Rona loved people unconditionally and compassionately.
Rona is survived by her husband, Timothy Lubben of Hampton, Iowa; her son, Jason (Christina) Lubben of Belmond, Iowa, her son, Shaun (Jayne) Lubben of Strawberry Point, Iowa, her daughter, Megan Lubben of Hampton and granddaughter, Amara (Jason & Christina); sister, Jean (Gary) Smith of Albany, Oregon, her sister, Mary (Andy) Michael of Chillicothe, Missouri, her brother, Dean (Ellen) DeVore of Manson, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sharon DeVore of Pomeroy, Iowa, sister-in-law, Angie Seibert of Manchester, Iowa, sister-in-law, Jean (Brian) Larson of Oelwein, Iowa, her sister-in-law, Gayle (Bob) Burgin of Dundee, Iowa; her brother-in-law, Gary of Manchester, Iowa and sister-in-law, Janet of Manchester, Iowa.
