Maxine Harvey, 97

Maxine Harvey, 97, of Sheffield, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 at MercyOne Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield with burial in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family and will be disbursed to Zion St John Lutheran Church and other organizations that Maxine supported. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. 

Maxine Fern (Lund) Harvey of Sheffield Iowa passed away Friday, April 28. She was a long-time resident of Sheffield. She was born June 6, 1925, daughter of Arthur and Anna (Nerhus) Lund in Humboldt County, Badger Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Badger Lutheran Church.

Maxine graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1942. After graduation she worked at State Bank in Ft. Dodge for 6 years. On June 6, 1948 she married Raynard Harvey at Badger Lutheran Church. They began farming in the Luverne and Vincent area. In 1955 they moved to Sheffield and continued farming until Raynard passed away in 1987.
Maxine worked at Sheffield Savings Bank for over 30 years. During her retirement Maxine and her friend started the bank’s travel club. Together they planned scenic bus trips around Iowa for bank customers.

Maxine was very active in the community. She served as treasurer of Sunrise Homes and as a Board Member of the Sheffield Library. She was a member of Dorcas Circle, F & S Study Club, and participated on church mission projects. Maxine enjoyed quilting with the women’s group at her church.

Maxine loved dancing, traveling, reading, making ceramics, puzzling, playing cards, and adult coloring.
Maxine loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are daughter Marcia Rae Harvey, Clear Lake IA, son Randall Lee (Jean) Harvey, Ankeny IA, and daughter Pamela Kay Harvey, Sheffield IA. Grandchildren Daniel (Stephanie) Harvey, Riverdale IA, and Krista Ann (Tony) Albaugh, Clive IA. Great grandchildren Hudson Harvey and Eli Harvey, Riverdale IA, and Karsten Albaugh and Addison Albaugh, Clive IA.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Raynard, sister Aldora Youngblood, and brother Gordon Lund.
