Marvin Rodemeyer

Marvin Rodemeyer, 90, of Hampton, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025, at MercyOne-North Iowa, in Mason City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hampton. Interment will be at the Beeds Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the church. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Hampton is caring for Marvin and his family.

Marvin Otto Rodemeyer was born November 21, 1934, at Hampton, a son of Otto and Amanda (Pralle) Rodemeyer. He graduated from Hampton High School and attended the University of Iowa for a year before returning to the family farm.

On June 4, 1961, Marvin was united in marriage with Janet Carstens at Trinity Lutheran Church. They made their home in Hampton, and he began working for the United States Post Office, where he worked for over 30 years.

Marvin served his country in the Iowa Air National Guard. He was a private and commercial pilot, flying for Dean Swebke and the Hampton Flying Service. He also belonged to the Beeds Lake Flying Club. He was active in Trinity Lutheran Church as an Usher and was the head of the building fund for many years. Marvin also enjoyed giving tours of the REA Power Plant Museum and being active as a member of the Franklin County Historical Society and helped take care of the Harriman Nielsen Historic Farm. For many years he was active in the Kiwanis.  He loved vegetable and flower gardening. Marvin also enjoyed traveling and camping and had traveled to 46 of the lower 48 states and Europe.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Janet; son Mark Alan Rodemeyer, Hampton; nieces and nephews.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, brother Arthur, sister Alice Miller and sister Imogene in childhood.
