Marianne Armento, 73

Marianne Armento, 73 of Springfield, IL, passed away on Monday January 17, 2022 at her home.  She was born on March 21, 1948, to Ervin and Margaret Meyer.

     She grew up on the family farm near Latimer, Iowa with her parents and older brother, Lawrence.    

      Marianne graduated from Cal Community School in lowa in 1966 and attended Kalamazoo College where she studied Psychology and French, she worked in Human Resources at Central National Bank in Chicago, IL and married, Paul Armento III in 1975. The couple moved to Springfield, IL where Marianne served as the Sr. Public Service Administrator for the State of IL. She was an avid fan of learning and furthered her education studying business administration at the University of IL Champaign-Urbana.

     After retirement, Marianne took an interest in traveling. She would travel frequently throughout the year, always including stops to spend time with family. She traveled to Alaska and Ontario and had been to every country except Antarctica, she would have had her passport stamped from there too, however, her trip was delayed due to the pandemic.

     Marianne was passionate about planting flowers and entertaining friends by creating new recipes incorporating flavors from around the world. She cherished experiences, cultures, and creating beauty in her life and sharing

those experiences with friends and family.

     She was proceeded in death by her husband Paul Armento III, parents Ervin and

Margaret Meyer, brother Lawrence Meyer, great-nephew Andrew Mennenga,

and her beloved four-legged companions Layla, Jenna, and Belize.

     Marianne had the most beautiful smile and laugh, she was a vivacious, charismatic, spirited person who loved her family, and her treasured four- legged companion Miss Squigglebottom.

     She will be greatly missed by her family; nieces Tamara Miller (husband Ron) and family. Susan Grett (husband Pete) and family, and Rhonda Meyer; great nephews Ray Mennenga (wife Shannon), Cole Mennenga (wife Hinda), Darrin Miller (son Lucan), great niece Brittni Miller; great nephews Tanner Miller (wife Sarah, children Sophie, Omer, and Opal), Christian Miller (son Gable), Brandon Grett, great niece Taylor Grett; Paul's daughter, Courtney Alison Armento and children, Tristen Miles Armento Irvin and Rion Kelsi Armento Irvin; and close friend, BJ Freesmeyer.

     A celebration of Marianne’s life is pending at a later date.
