Man arrested for Franklin County Law Enforcement Center crash

An individual suspected of crashing into the Franklin County Law Enforcement Center has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses related to the collision.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office last week arrested Tobias Sanchez-Mariano, 34 of Hampton, and charged him with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to have a valid driver’s license, failure to prove security against liability and failure to maintain control.

On Wednesday, Sept. 16, a red, 2003 Ford Explorer, registered to Martha Roque-Anatasio, Hampton, allegedly driven by Sanchez-Mariano, drove through the double entry doors of the Law Enforcement Center meeting room.

A release issued by the sheriff’s office said that Sanchez-Mariano left the Kwik Star parking lot and traveled west on First Avenue SW. He then traveled through the T-intersection at First Avenue and Fifth Street SW before driving through the doors.

The building sustained damage to the exterior and interior handicap accessible doors and surrounding features. The vehicle sustained more than $20,000 in damage.

No one was injured as a result.
